Limited Capacity seats available

Today’s workplaces need people who can ask for feedback from others, take creative risks, learn from failure and maintain an optimistic mindset throughout it all. The fully online Graduate Certificate in Workplace Innovation at Royal Roads University is teaching workplace professionals skills in innovation to meet those organizational demands.

In this session we’ll explore the instructional strategies and authentic assessments featured in the online course, “Innovation Tools and Processes” (the second course in the program) to showcase an example of how mid-career students are learning about – and employing – innovation skills and methods through course activities and workplace-based assignments.

Specifically, we will look at how course design and assessment can be informed by design thinking principles and sound pedagogy to create authentic assignments, scaffold assignments across a course and include cycles of prototyping and formative feedback to increase student learning.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

-Identify several research-based assessment strategies to improve student learning
-Locate online resources in innovation tools and processes
